Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Here is what i learnt from each question we asked.
Question 1: What genre did you percieve the music video?
I learnt that not everyone understood what genre we where aiming for, i think this to be because they might associate rock videos with mainly performance based and alot of flashing images like in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy17DWrjNT0. They use all the flashing images and have the audience jumping around. This is what would be classed as a typical view of a rock performance/ music video
Question 2: Did the music video fit with the genre?
I learnt that most thought the video did fit the genre very well but that some did not this could be due to the reasons i stated above in question 1.
Question 3: Did you understand the storyline in the music video?
I learnt that a few of the people we interviewed where not very pleased with the kissing scenes in the music video. This could be because the scenes where repetative or it could be down to the persons on prefferences. Some people do not like public displays of affection so this could have been a very arkward situation for them. But the others that we interviewed seemed ok with the kissing scenes and believed it to be a good representation of the storyline.
Question 4: Did the imagery work well with in the lyrics?
Many agreed with the imagery linking well with in the video but one person seemed to not think so. She believed there where to many shots of the band and that they could have been alot better and mor energetic, this could be due to what i stated in question 1 about people thinking that the rock genre is about jumping about and alot of movement.
Question 5: Would you buy the album after watching the video?
Many people said no to this answer due to their own personal prefferences and tastes in music.
Question 6: Would you recomend the video to a friend?
Many said they would recommend the video to friends to watch, this could be because they may have friends that could be interested in that type of music.
Question 7: Rate the video out of 10
We mostly scored between 6 and 8 for the video, this could be down to personal taste or it could be down to the video being more of a stepping stone. One girl stated that she felt the video was more of a edited version and would be better after a few more edits.
We decided to get our audience feedback via video due to it being easier to ask and recieve answers. We wanted to do a qualitative interview because it allowed us to keep to questions we needed answering but also to find out more information by asking questions that followed what the person was saying. This allowed the person being interviewed to feel more cofortable answering the questions and allowed us to again as much and more information we needed.
