Front cover of the album. |
Our music video is very different to what I wanted the print production to be like. I wanted to stick with the theme of not knowing which way to turn next. This was a theme I was originally going to use in my original idea of having a chess theme as the album cover, but i felt this didn't link with the genre of the band so i decided that a maze would keep with this theme but also keep to the genre. I wanted the album to speak for is self i didn't want people to automatically think 'that links to the music video' when they saw the cover. This is why i thought it would be a good idea to have all the colours on the front to allow it to stand out. When you think about the main theme in the music video it does link in away to the CD album cover. Due to the end of a relationship it could link with taking the wrong route in the maze and coming to a dead end. This was what i wanted the maze to represent that life can have dead ends and can not always turn out how you thought it would.

Example of using images
from music video. |
But inside the album i wanted to use images from the music video to show the link. I decided this because i wanted the album tohave more of a performance feel then a personal one. This allow ed me to keep the album very much focused on the MUSIC and not the band and their personal loves. I decided not to add THANKS from the band member to keep the album about the music. I wanted to keep the link of the maze throughout the album due to it being a key factor in what the album portrays, this is why i thought it would be effective to have the maze as the background but slightly more transparent, as well as linking to the maze throw the title of the songs. The music video follows Goodwin's theory, that there is a visual link to the lyrics, this also links with the meaning behind the CD cover, the cover represents life and the video represents a section in life that many go throw.

Magazine advert. |
The Magazine advert links more so with the album then the music video, there is no reference to the music video in the magazine advert this is due to wanting the video and the album to speak for themselves and not have any physical links other then inside the booklet of the album. The magazine adverts main focus is the maze in the centre. This is advertising of the album and the link between the advert and the CD. I believe that my advert would mostly be published in magazines like Kerrange and NME, this is due to the fact that i believe that my target audience would mostly read these types of magazines.
