Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forsm and conventions of real media products?

The song we decided to use is mainly Rock based, due to this we used the typical conventions of Rock in our music video, like the used of performance shoots. We also decided to make the video darker (light wise) to help to reach this convention. We did this by the use of filters (to remove background aspects from the video.) and colour contrasts (in the shots of the couple to show it was in the past.).
We have also stickied to the rock genre by the use of linking the lyrics with the visuals. This was easy to do as the song is about a break up so we showed in the story a couple getting together then breaking up. The use of cutting from performance shots (keeping to Goodwin's theory) to narrative shots is also a common aspect in the Rock genre. (An example of this is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4y-RzVGrHg)
Due to our music being fasted paced (keeping to Goodwin's theory of  a relationship between music and visuals) we edited the video to be fast cutting and cutting to the beats in the music.

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

My CD cover.

My Print production linked greatly to the rock genre by the use of bright colours like many rock bands have used like 'Foo Fighters-Wasting Light' and 'Muse-The Resistance'.
I wanted to keep with the conventions of Rock in my Print Production because I wanted the audience to immediately understand what the genre of the band was. I also wanted to use bright colours to draw the audiences eye, make the CD/Magazine advert stand out.

The Style of casing i choose to use was very conventional of all genres. I thought that  having a plastic CD case would be more beneficial and would be less likely to take away the emphasis of the CD cover.
